AI for Doctoral Researchers ¨C Hands-on Workshop
As part of the InterGrad-EGD qualification program, this workshop provides PhD candidates with a comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs) in academic research. Participants will develop a thorough understanding of current AI tools and explore practical applications including literature search, text analysis, and thesis structuring. An optional session will guide participants through establishing a local LLM environment using Docker.
The workshop combines theoretical foundations with hands-on exercises and welcomes all doctoral researchers, with enrollment priority for InterGrad-EGD participants. In-person attendance is limited, while online participation via Zoom is available to all participants.
Instructors:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sebastian von Enzberg, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, specializes in Applied AI, Industrial Data Science, and machine learning in industrial contexts. He leads the ZAKKI project, developing AI curricula and investigating pedagogical approaches for AI education.
M.Sc. David Thomas D?ring, AI Analytics Lab researcher at the ZAKKI project, brings expertise in computer science to support interdisciplinary teaching in data science, programming, and academic applications of large language models. His research encompasses neural networks, image analysis, and transformer architectures.
